I am sorry to hear that you upset your sister but I do think that you put your points across very well, there may just be something that will niggle her mind and rethink things, who knows.
I also think it was the right move to apologise for upsetting her because that was not your aim and it also shows how decent you are and she can't even think that you have now become a "horrible" person since leaving. Well done.

i'm 19 and trying to get a job.
my dad won't pay for my college if i don't pioneer.. if i get a job, i can't pioneer while in college.. i can supposedly work and study, but i need a good way to get rid of pioneering (it was never my idea in the first place - blame the parents with their social coercion).. if i stop pioneering, i will be told by my parents that i don't love jehovah (not that i care what they say).. how can i do this as painlessly as possible?.
i want to move out someday and have enough money to do this.. by the way, if you read my started topics you will see my situation in more detail and that my dad is the coordinator of the boe..
The only thing I can say to you is that my husband's parents used emotional blackmail to get him reinstated in the Org and he has regretted listening to it ever since. If he had stood up to his mother in the first place it would have been done and dusted and eventually she would have got over it.
Instead, he listened to her, went to meetings to please her etc. etc. - hated every minute of it. However, I am pleased to say that he hasn't attended for almost two years now and his mum hasn't mentioned anything - though we are still waiting.
It is YOUR life, you didn't ask to be born. Do you best to be diplomatic but make sure you get the education you need. I am sure you don't want to wash windows for the rest of your life.
You have been given some good advice here. I think the one where you reason with you father stating that you cannot pioneer whilst you are at college and working but you will be better placed to in the future when you qualify. Also, by saying you may have to redo a year if you try and pioneer as well will all help your case.

this was obviously some sort of manuscript talk, i was there and heard it at the st. louis assembly and asked around, and i know it was at other district conventions.
what business is this for the fds to be in, not a scriptual affair at all.
Surely though being overweight may be classed as gluttony or though I guess they will bring out a new rule to override this one?

I remember when my husband and I used to sometimes attend meetings in other KHs the first question they ask is "how long have you been in the Truth?". Used to make me laugh when my husband used to reply "all my life" they couldn't trump that one.

Firstly, Lady Lee you should never have been attacked in that way. He is entitled to his opinion but that is all and if he wants to believe that child abuse doesn't happen the way it does then that is up to him and his conscience.
In 2000 in the UK there was a BBC Panorama programme dedicated solely to child abuse and JWs. This was before I met my JW husband and I watched it with shock horror as it unfolded many child abuse cases that had gone on. There was one case where a girl was abused and reported it to the Elders who did nothing and the perpetrator then went on to abuse the second daughter in the same family, it was then reported to the police. If they had listened to the first daughter the second one would have been spared the same treatment.
Now I spent most of my working life working in the law and know for a fact that if any of the programme wasn't true there would have been litigation. Similarly, my husband spent 26 years working for BBC News and actually edited that particular programme before it was shown and he knows too well how many times the BBC have to check and recheck anything before it is shown because of slander and libel cases.
Ironically, the Sunday before it was shown they were told in his KH not to watch the programme!!!
I really feel for people who have been abused in this way. My two children are grown up now but as with most mums would do anything to protect them from this kind of evil and we do not need Elders blocking the way to justice in order to protect others.
